ABRSM Grade 5 Theory (Intensive Course)

Content: The class is designed for students planning to enrol for ABRSM Music Theory Grade 5 Exam

Time: 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Venue: Ming Hua Theological College
Target participants: Adult, planning to enroll for ABRSM Music Theory Grade 5 Exam
Fee: HK$2400 (Students need to purchase the course materials on their own)

Remarks:

  • The course is taught in Cantonese, though some musical terminology may involve foreign languages
  • Students need to have basic English reading comprehension and be able to do simple calculations
  • Students are responsible for purchasing the course materials (Simon Rushby, Discovering Music Theory Grade 1-5 Workbook (ABRSM); Music Theory Practice Papers 2025 Grade 5 (ABRSM)) and should bring stationery to class
  • Students who completed this course and obtain an attendance percentage of 75% or above can receive the” Certificate of ABRSM Grade 5 Theory Course” awarded by Ming Hua Theological College

Fundamental Choral Conducting

Content: This class introduces students to basic conducting techniques, such as beating patterns and gestures used to convey dynamics and timbre. The class also covers how to prepare for a choir rehearsal.
Instructor: Mr King Chan (MMus Choral Conducting)
Dates: 16, 23, 30/5; 6/6 (Sat, 4 lessons in total)
Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Venue: Ming Hua Theological College
Target participants: People interested to know more about conducting choirs. Score-reading skills and choral singing experience are required
Fee: HK$1200

Remarks:

  • This course only accepts a maximum of 8 active students, observing students are not accepted
  • Priority is given to choirmasters from HKSKH churches and parishes
  • Upon completion, students will be eligible to enrol in the “Intermediate Choral Conducting Course”, which includes a practicum session
Remarks:
  • All courses are taught in Cantonese
  • Under normal circumstances, no refund will be offered once the student pays the lesson fee
  • Except for 1) severe weather; 2) instructor illness; or 3) other force majeure reasons, we will not arrange make-up classes
  • If the numbers of applications are insufficient, the department may cancel the course
